Secure Funding for Disaster Resilience: Disaster Ready Fund

Round Three 2025-2026 is NOW OPEN!

Peak's Consulting Services Grant Office team has welcomed the announcement of the Disaster Ready Fund (DRF) Round Three, with up to $200 million available for disaster risk reduction projects in 2025-26.

The DRF is a cornerstone of Australia’s $1 billion national disaster risk reduction strategy. Past funding rounds have seen Queensland secure over $113 million, highlighting the program’s potential to drive transformative investments.

What’s Funded in Round Three

This round has a strong focus on large-scale infrastructure projects that deliver enduring resilience and long-term disaster risk reduction benefits. Funded projects should:

  • increase understanding of disaster impacts
  • strengthen community resilience to future disasters; and/or
  • significantly reduce disaster risk, impacts, and long-term costs.

Key Highlights from the Round Three Guidelines

Up to $138 million is dedicated to infrastructure projects with a minimum value of $500,000. This could include project such as flood levees, sea walls, natural hazard monitoring, resilient community hubs and evacuation centres and more.

A further $59 million has been allocated for other eligible project types such as development of business cases and/or feasibility studies for future infrastructure, disaster risk assessments and frameworks, resilience and risk reduction strategies and more.

First Nations organisations and local councils located in ‘very remote’ and ‘remote’ locations are eligible to apply for up to 90 per cent of eligible project costs. Other ‘low rate-based’ councils up to 80 per cent of eligible project costs. All other applicants can apply for up to 50 per cent of eligible project costs.
