LGA50120 Diploma of Local Government (Corporate Services)

Working in local government requires a broad range of managerial, co-ordination and planning skills. The Diploma of Local Government (Corporate Services) allows you to develop management systems together with plans and policies within the local government context. Successful completion of this qualification broadens your skills and knowledge in Council’s Corporate Services requirements. This Diploma is made up of 12 units of competency covering areas such as:

BSB50820 Diploma of Project Management

PSP40416 Certificate IV Government Investigations (Regulatory compliance specialisation)

This qualification provides local laws officers, inspectors, investigators and other authorised officers with the skills and knowledge to undertake regulatory and administrative inspections and investigations.

The course program covers understanding and application of regulatory powers, planning and conducting investigations, gathering and managing evidence, interviewing skills and reporting on investigation outcomes.  The regulatory compliance specialisation covers the skills required by those responsible for ensuring statutory compliance with the requirements of legislation, regulations and organisational policy and is suited to local government officers who need to carry out regulatory compliance investigations for council. Our program is made up of 15 units of competency covering subjects such as: 

  • Plan and initiate an investigation
  • Conduct investigations
  • Finalise investigations
  • Apply regulatory powers and assess compliance
  • Search and seizures
  • Interview process
  • Inspections and monitoring
  • Evidence

The PSPSS00040 Government Investigations skill set is designed for individuals in regulatory roles requiring evidence collection and interviews with persons of interest. It equips professionals with the necessary skills to identify potential non-compliance, and to plan, conduct, and report on investigations.
