Hello from the CEO | November 2024

Welcome to the final edition of News From Peak for 2024 – it’s a pleasure to have the chance to say hello to you before the year wraps up. 

I’ve officially had my feet under the desk since Monday and in only a few days I’ve already learnt so much from the team about the multi-faceted and diverse services we provide to councils. The learning journey will continue over the coming weeks as I understand more about the challenges councils face and how we can best support you with these challenges.

It was great to meet many Mayors, CEOs, Elected Members and other C-suite executives from across Queensland Local Government at the LGAQ Conference last month. While I know many local government professionals from my time at QTIC, I’m looking forward to learning from you and working with you in my new capacity.

I’ve told the team here at Peak that I have an open-door policy - and that extends to you too. I’m planning on getting out to meet as many councils as possible during the first half of 2025. I’m keen to listen, learn and understand the challenges you face and work with you to find ways to enhance council operations and build liveable communities one step at a time.

We have a great opportunity to work alongside Queensland local governments to help you achieve more – which has never been more important with ever-increasing costs to deliver council services, and the spiralling cost-shifting that is happening to councils and their communities.

I’d like to take this time to wish you and your loved ones a very Merry Christmas. Have a safe and relaxing break and I look forward to working with you in 2025.
