What makes the ideal working team?

When asking this question, we will each have a variety of answers.

We want skilled people with good personalities, a person with a happy disposition and someone who will be a good cultural fit for the organisation and has a strong work ethic. Ultimately, we want them to help increase our productivity and work collaboratively.

Afterall, a perfectly harmonised team will be the most productive one!

If we “google” this important question, “what makes the ideal working team?”, the results tell us the team should show trust and respect, have clear goals, be diverse and inclusive, be adaptable, show commitment to their roles, the team and the organisation, be accountable, be able to communicate effectively, have good conflict resolution skills and the list goes.  In a perfect world, our teams would be made up of these qualities and many more. The truth is, team members are often employed for their skill level and cultural fit, but we rarely investigate their fit within the personality types that make up the team, and how they can work together to be more productive.

With many teams successfully achieving this melting pot of qualities, there are always different personalities to manage and lead. To develop and nurture people into high-performing and productive teams, we need to dig a little deeper and discover the intricacies of their personalities, what’s important to them and how to motivate them.

How do we improve team dynamics to help increase efficiency, collaboration and cohesiveness?

Introducing Peak’s New Course: Myers-Briggs – Personalities at Work  (Inhouse delivery only).

This course uses the true Myers-Briggs assessment tools and is presented by a Peak’s Myers-Briggs Certified Practitioner,   Mario Cortés .  While many versions of these tools are widely accessible, the genuine Myers-Briggs assessment can only be administered by a Certified Practitioner.

Developed in 1921, but first published in 1962 - the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) is one of the most widely used personality assessment tools in the world.

The MBTI assessment categorises individuals into one of 16 personality types, each represented by a four-letter code covering Extraversion (E) vs. Introversion (I); Sensing (S) vs. Intuition (N); Thinking (T) vs. Feeling (F) and Judging (J) vs. Perceiving (P).  Team members complete an MBTI questionnaire which results in their four (4) letter code and once this information is shared and discussed within teams, it often creates ‘light bulb’ moments and deeper understanding for individuals and teams.  Understanding personality types helps in assembling more effective teams.

How will your teams benefit from the Myers-Briggs workshop?

Peak’s MBTI Personalities at Work workshop will help increase productivity and help teams gain an insight into each other’s personality preferences and create understanding of communication styles within your teams.  The assessment tool is completed on the workshop day after which our trainer will provide information on:

  • personality types, strengths and weaknesses,
  • what is important to each personality type,
  • how to motivate different personality types,
  • how different types deal with stress, deadlines, authority and conflict, and
  • how to create a balanced team.

All personality profiles have strengths and suggested areas of improvement. There is no ideal MBTI profile!

Overall, the MBTI assessment will help create a more understanding, cohesive, and productive work environment and happier teams.

We are very happy to include this exciting program in our suite of available programs for councils.  We strive to seek out workshops and trainers that will add value to Queensland councils through the upskilling we provide.
