Project management and procurement of the Roma Saleyard Interpretive Centre – Maranoa Regional Council
The Roma Saleyards are the largest livestock selling centre in Australia. Twice-weekly sales take place with buyers and sellers frequenting the facility from all over Queensland and Australia.
The Saleyards, being the commercial hub of the cattle industry in Western Queensland, attracts not just people doing business, but tourists, as there is nothing like seeing the first sale of the day as the sun is rising on a cold winter’s morning.
Peak was awarded a contract to write interpretive briefs for the Centre, which involved research, stakeholder consultation and presentations to council to develop the design brief for procurement of the interpretive design consultant services to prepare design documentation. Peak then managed the team to successfully deliver the project brief and design brief outcomes.
Once complete, the Interpretive Centre will provide the many Saleyards visitors (currently over 4,000 per annum) with a unique experience, while learning about the cattle and agriculture industry along with the history of the saleyards. The high calibre facility will encourage more visitors to the Maranoa and stimulate the visitor economy of Southwestern and Western Queensland.
