The countdown to Local Buy’s FNQ Regional Procurement Summit is on, held at Port Douglas on the 28th of March and co-hosted with Douglas Shire Council.
Effective procurement plays an essential role in the success of not only your council but also your region, meaning that it’s vital to remain connected with current trends, practices, challenges, and opportunities in this critical council function. It is with this goal in mind that Local Buy, part of the Local Government Association of Queensland and your procurement partner, are partnering with co-host councils across the state for their regional procurement summits, delivering valuable insights focused on “Advancing Local Government Procurement in Queensland”, including being procurement-ready for the 2032 games.
Starting with the FNQ Regional Procurement Summit on the 28th of March, this event kicks off with a networking breakfast hosted by Douglas Shire Mayor Michael Kerr and CEO Rachel Brophy. Rachel will share her own procurement stories from Council’s frontline and will challenge the way delegates talk about procurement with their Council co-workers. Her insights will leave delegates feeling driven to engage with and empower project teams and become the knight in shining armour who can come to the rescue!
Additionally, you will hear from the below procurement and industry experts:

These speakers will cover a range of relevant topics including contracts and legal, environmental and sustainability procurement, compliance, and regulation. To round out the event, the day also looks into the future, including what the 2032 Olympics means for North Queensland and an Outlook from Industry for 2023. With case studies, breakout activities, panel discussions and an ability to network with peers from within the region, the day is one not to miss! Registrations are essential and RSVPs close Friday 10 March 2023
Further demonstrating Local Buy’s commitment to support procurement in the region, delegates will also receive a post-event professional development session, funded by Local Buy, on the topic of Fraud & Corruption in Procurement.
