Mitigating climate risks through training, using the Q CRC Framework
Councils have always had a role in managing risks. The ability to demonstrate how a local government area is acting to mitigate and/or take advantage of changing risk is increasingly important. The Climate Risk Management Framework for Queensland Local Government aims to support planning and implementing actions in ways that minimise overall costs and engage key stakeholders and the community.
"The best available science tells us that our climate is becoming less stable, and we are experiencing increasing changes in temperature, rainfall, sea level and extreme weather conditions affecting how we live and work. It makes sense to take appropriate action to better manage our climate risks. By adopting a risked based approach, we can adapt to such changes and still enjoy our lifestyles and stay safe. There is a lot we can all do mitigate the impacts of global warming and local governments can lead and support their communities and local business to get on the front foot."
In response to the need for organisations to address changing climate conditions, we are offering two new courses:
LGASS00010 Manage Workplace Sustainability Skill Set | BSBSUS411 Implement and monitor environmentally sustainable work practices (Climate Resilient Leadership Workshop) |
