Remote Roads Upgrade Pilot Program

Closing 20 February 2022

Roads in remote locations across our sprawling nation are set to be improved with the recently launched Remote Roads Upgrade Pilot Program.

This $150 million Australian Federal Government initiative is designed to provide funding to State, Territory and Local Governments for projects that address significant deficiencies on key regional and rural roads.

Remote roads, many of which are severely degraded and unsealed, provide a vital network to supply chain operators and regional Australians who rely on them

The pilot program will assess the social and economic benefits for our remote and regional communities.  With funding available for projects targeting to seal more than 20 kilometres, the focus is on enhancing connectivity, reliability, efficiency, and safety of existing roads infrastructure across the country.
