Multicultural Indigenous Precinct - Hinchinbrook Shire Council
Peak assisted council applying for Building Our Regions Round 5 funding to develop a business case for the Hinchinbrook Shire Multicultural Indigenous Precinct.
The project includes development of an authentic multicultural and indigenous precinct in Ingham’s town centre to enhance the shire’s credentials as a recreation, adventure and tourism mecca.
Although final design is dependent on the site, the proposal includes a built structure to provide the anchor point, incorporating interpretive cultural displays and digital experiences, as well as providing shelter and amenities.
It is an initiative that aligns with and advances council’s vision for improved recreation and tourism in the region by promoting the shire’s natural wonders, culture and history.
The cultural and Aboriginal precinct is intended to revitalise the centre of the Ingham township, increase visitor stopping and spend in the region, additionally promoting and attracting investment to an area that is currently experiencing an economic downturn.
